THE (NEVER)-ENDING ARCHIVE

The (Never)-Ending Archive is a living archive and library of forms built from everyday consumer objects.

Since 2019, Céline De Schepper has been collecting objects that carry traces of our consumer culture in domestic and urban environments. Each object is photographed, dated and archived before entering the lab, a space for experimentation and material research.

What begins as a disposable object slowly reveals unexpected emotional, historical and symbolic resonance. A sterilising tray used for baby bottles starts carrying more emotional weight than inherited silverware. A coffee capsule becomes a miniature reliquary of a shared conversation. Everyday objects begin functioning as new symbols and contemporary relics of domestic life.

Some objects remain untouched. Others evolve through processes of transformation, becoming part of installations, displays, wearable objects, editions or spatial interventions.

By collecting, preserving and reframing these overlooked forms, The (Never)-Ending Archive invites us to look differently at the objects that shape our daily lives and to reconsider what we choose to value, preserve and remember.

In doing so, The (Never)-Ending Archive builds a new heritage of contemporary consumer culture.
